JBOATS history
JBoats is a well-known sailing yacht manufacturer with a rich history in the world of competitive sailing. Founded in 1977 by renowned sailor and yacht designer Rod Johnstone, the company quickly gained recognition for their innovative designs and outstanding performance on the racecourse.
The first JBoat, the J24, was designed and built by Rod Johnstone in his garage in Stonington, Connecticut. The J24 quickly gained popularity among sailors for its speed, handling, and affordability, and became the world’s most popular keelboat class with over 5,400 boats built to date.
Following the success of the J24, JBoats continued to produce a line of successful designs, including the J30, J35, and J105, which all achieved success on the racecourse and became popular among sailors for their speed, handling, and durability.
In addition to their success on the racecourse, JBoats has also produced a line of cruising yachts, including the J40, J42, and J46, which offer a combination of comfort, performance, and luxury.
Today, JBoats continues to innovate and push the boundaries of yacht design, with a line of high-performance racing yachts, including the J/70, J/88, and J/111, and a range of cruising yachts, including the J/99 and J/121.
